PRA technology architecture has built-in redundancies that ensure reliable service 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our technology combines a web-based, multi-locale architecture and robust reading stations. This enables us to review cases via any secure Internet access, and hospital radiologists can be involved in the event of a catastrophic emergency or if an outside consultation is desired. PRA provides a project management team to help clients with the logistics of setting up our teleradiology technology.
Our servers reside on redundant networks that increase availability and reliability, maintaining an uptime of > 99.9%. Images are routed over alternate pathways in case of outages. Images can either be sent directly from the modalities or a workstation configured to send images at the hospital. All image transmission happens over secure VPN tunnels that are established at the start of service.
All our radiologists are connected to our datacenter over a secure VPN link. They have full access to images via a local PACS on their pre-configured work stations. In case of an outage, radiologists can use a web based secure 128 bit SSL browser to view images remotely.
Our internally developed RIS is a powerful workflow management tool that is fully HIPAA compliant and supports HL7 and DICOM. Orders can be created automatically by sending HL7 messages our just the DICOM images (depending on the need) to our servers or can either be created by logging onto the RIS secure web interface. Completed reports can be sent out either as faxes or HL7 directly to the facility’s electronic medical record systems reducing delays and making the overall workflow very time efficient. Our system has been validated to work well with various EMR systems and we provide no-cost assistance to help setup both ends of the work flow loop.
