PRA
Services

Pediatric Radiology of America was formed in 2006 to provide children’s facilities with an alternate option for teleradiology services - a company dedicated solely to pediatric radiology utilizing highly trained and sub-specialized pediatric radiologists. Over the years, PRA has expanded to include provision of on-site locums as well as technology services, but our core service still remains the provision of pediatric radiology coverage via teleradiology.

Preliminary and Final Reports

While PRA offers both preliminary and final (definitive) reports, we highly recommend final definitive reporting for our clients as it is more cost effective (Final reports cost, on average, just 10% more than preliminary reads). We understand that initially some clients might feel the need to start with preliminary reads until they are comfortable with our reporting and shifting to a final reporting structure is seamless.

Final reports, apart from being billable, also help your radiologists start their day afresh and help focus on current patients rather than having to over-read prelims from the previous days.

Hours of Coverage

Pediatric teleradiology services are available 24/7/365. Typical coverage begins at 5pm and ends at 8am the next morning, with weekends seeing extended hours as needed. However, PRA has the ability to provide coverage during the daytime and during all national holidays.

Doctor’s Reading Locations

PRA’s entire faculty is US Board certified in Radiology and hold Certificates of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Pediatric Radiology. We also have doctors that hold CAQs in Neuroradiology along with pediatric radiology. These doctors are all based in the United States and read out of home offices setup with standard equipment that meets or exceeds ACR guidelines.

‘Digital’ Locums and On-site Staffing

Due to the unique position of PRA and its access to renowned pediatric radiologists, we maintain a large faculty as well as relationships with physicians willing to offer locums services on an as needed basis. Apart from the traditional locums’ service, we also can provide “digital” locums via our teleradiology service (instead of client signing a yearly contract) and on-site staffing assistance. To minimize downtime, PRA helps bridge the gap between eventually hiring and placing a radiologist on-site by providing teleradiology and/or locums’ services.

Peer Review and Quality Assurance Program

PRA adheres to and maintains a strict Quality Assurance program based on the ACR RadPeer model. In addition to the internal QA process, we also provide Peer Review assistance to clients. These reports are far more detailed than regular QA reports and help Clients meet or exceed standards set in their bylaws or by accreditation authorities (eg JCAHO etc).

Additional Options

PRA also provides private pediatric practices, imaging facilities and hospitals with the option of over-read services and second opinions. We have specially tailored our service for academic centers to enable attending coverage to the on-call resident. This way, your residents have access to the same highly qualified pediatric radiologists as our other clients and we provide over-reads as well as the ability to carry out phone consultations in real time. All this equates to better overall quality of care and ensures your doctors start the day anew.
