About PRA

Pediatric Radiology of America (PRA) is specifically focused on providing quality radiological interpretations when they are most needed. Being solely focused on the Pediatric domain, PRA naturally works only with the most qualified fellowship trained physicians.

PRA enables some of the most highly specialized physicians - those trained specifically in the subspecialty of pediatric radiology - to cater to patients within their focused expertise. Our business model lays its foundation on timely access to the most highly qualified radiologists.

PRA is a corporation that is structured to work with and support existing physicians, rather than to compete with them. We pride in viewing our Radiologists and Centers more as partners and not simply clients. Understanding the market's demand and reimbursement policies, PRA has no minimum case requirements. Furthermore, excess cases beyond an average number are not penalized as is the case with some competitors.

From the point of view of corporate structure, PRA is based in the U.S. in order to ensure the highest level of service quality and client confidence. With respect to our team of radiologists, PRA provides our team with a more flexible and satisfactory work environment by allowing them the opportunity to either emergent or non-emergent work. With our team of U.S trained physicians, PRA's next steps would be to advance towards full daytime reports.

Another of PRA's assets is its technological infrastructure. PRA's technological layout is based upon a combination of a web-based multi-locale architecture and robust PACS reading stations. This allows the cases to be reviewed by any HIPAA-compliant secure Internet access not only by a PRA radiologist but also by the hospital radiologists in the event of a catastrophic emergency or if an outside consult is desired. PRA utilizes IPACS servers distributed at various locations within the U.S. In the event of a regional emergency (power loss, natural disaster), images are immediately routed to a different pathway. Images may also be sent directly from the modality or the hospital DICOM send box to a number of individual back up PRA fixed IP addresses. Images can then be forwarded to appropriate radiologists through numerous pathways. As an ultimate fall back mechanism, PRA's architecture allows the hospital radiologists to also logon and see only the patients on the IPACS servers. This could be used in an emergency situation. All that is required on the hospital radiologist's end is a HIPAA-compliant secure Internet connection. No additional software is required as the web-based software is downloaded free from the IPACs servers.

    What is teleradiology?
The process of sending radiologic images from one point to another through digital, computer-assisted transmission, typically over standard telephone lines, wide area network (WAN), or over a local area network (LAN).
Through teleradiology, images can be sent to another part of the hospital, or around the world!
